‘Your injury, your feet’ (Insoles)

As well as our physiotherapy and MRI scanning service, we are able to offer a state registered Orthotist who can supply and fit a range of insoles, orthopaedic supports and braces.

Quite often physiotherapists work in conjunction with another health care specialist such as an Orthotist, to achieve a cure as opposed to merely treating the symptoms i.e. between us, we work hard to get to the bottom of the problem and prevent it happening again.

It’s easy for a physiotherapist to treat your pain and discomfort, but we wouldn’t have done our job properly if the factors causing the problem in the first place were over looked.

To put it more simply, if your legs and/or feet are "out of line", this can cause pain in the knees, hips and back and reduce movement (these are the symptoms). For instance, if someone’s foot flattens to much when they walk, the leg tends to twist inwards, putting excessive strain on the inside of the knee joint which can become painful and cause cartilage problems.

This type of problem occurs mostly in people who are very active (such as sports people), or who are on their feet a lot (such as hairdressers or policeman), however it can affect anyone if their feet are far enough out of alignment or as people get older and their bodies are less able to cope with mechanical imperfections.

We may involve an orthotist in your treatment plan to ensure that you achieve a full recovery. For example, and orthotist may be able to help with:

  • Foot and heel pain
  • Flat feet
  • Foot drop
  • Leg length differences
  • Bunions
  • Ankle sprains
  • Shin splints
  • Spinal injuries
  • Persistent knee injuries

A Word From Paul

Welcome to February, do you think we avoid the snow this year or is set to fall this month? This month we start a new contract to look after the staff of housing authority Coast & Country in the Guisborough area! We've settled nicely in the new physio practice, if you receive treatment from us in the Hartlepool area we're now at 25 Raby Road, keep an eye on it as your driving past!
...Whether you are a current patient of ours wanting to learn more about our team, or you have found us by accident and still deciding who to choose for your treatment, your interest in our practice is much appreciated. Hopefully you will find our web site informative and helpful, as well as fun. If you have any comments or suggestions about our practice, please contact me directly. paul@paulgoughphysio.com
