Common Injuries
Despite what you might think or have been lead to believe, physiotherapists treat very few sports injuries in comparison to injuries caused by everyday living. Here are some examples of the injuries we treat and how they can happen. See if your injury is in the list:
- An office worker or driver who sits with a poor posture for long periods of time (anyone who sits for long periods is a candidate for lower back or shoulder/neck pain)
- Gardeners and housewives with sciatica caused by bending and twisting frequently
- A mother whose back can stiffen as a result of leaning over and picking up the children all day long
- A brick layer lifting and twisting regularly may have a bad back or a plumber on his knees and twisted all day may be a likely patient with chronic knee pain
- A painter with sore wrists or elbows (golfers elbow) or a hairdresser with a muscle problem of the shoulder
Words you will never hear said in our practice…
“IT’S YOUR AGE – YOU’LL HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT” or “COME BACK IN SIX WEEKS IF IT’S STILL NO BETTER”
How many times have you been told either of these two statements?
Whatever your injury, age or background, it makes no difference how it has happened, we will be happy to help you. Our modern and fresh approach to providing physiotherapy care is more concerned with the symptoms and the pain you’re in, rather than your age or background. If your priority is to return to work, play 5 a side or simply pick up the grandchildren, your health is our priority and you will never ever be told that you’re too old, or that you have to live with it or that playing sport is of no priority to us, or worst of all, “if it still isn’t better in six weeks then come back for more pain killers” - if there›s a chance the injury will still be painful in 6 weeks, then why not treat the injury now?
Here are some more detailed examples of the injuries we see every day in our practice
