Common Injuries

Despite what you might think or have been lead to believe, physiotherapists treat very few sports injuries in comparison to injuries caused by everyday living. Here are some examples of the injuries we treat and how they can happen. See if your injury is in the list:

  • An office worker or driver who sits with a poor posture for long periods of time (anyone who sits for long periods is a candidate for lower back or shoulder/neck pain)
  • Gardeners and housewives with sciatica caused by bending and twisting frequently
  • A mother whose back can stiffen as a result of leaning over and picking up the children all day long
  • A brick layer lifting and twisting regularly may have a bad back or a plumber on his knees and twisted all day may be a likely patient with chronic knee pain
  • A painter with sore wrists or elbows (golfers elbow) or a hairdresser with a muscle problem of the shoulder

Words you will never hear said in our practice…

“IT’S YOUR AGE – YOU’LL HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT” or “COME BACK IN SIX WEEKS IF IT’S STILL NO BETTER”

How many times have you been told either of these two statements?

Whatever your injury, age or background, it makes no difference how it has happened, we will be happy to help you. Our modern and fresh approach to providing physiotherapy care is more concerned with the symptoms and the pain you’re in, rather than your age or background. If your priority is to return to work, play 5 a side or simply pick up the grandchildren, your health is our priority and you will never ever be told that you’re too old, or that you have to live with it or that playing sport is of no priority to us, or worst of all, “if it still isn’t better in six weeks then come back for more pain killers” - if there›s a chance the injury will still be painful in 6 weeks, then why not treat the injury now?

Here are some more detailed examples of the injuries we see every day in our practice

Back Pain | Ankle Sprain | Shoulder pain | Whiplash | Knee pain

A Word From Paul

Welcome to February, do you think we avoid the snow this year or is set to fall this month? This month we start a new contract to look after the staff of housing authority Coast & Country in the Guisborough area! We've settled nicely in the new physio practice, if you receive treatment from us in the Hartlepool area we're now at 25 Raby Road, keep an eye on it as your driving past!
...Whether you are a current patient of ours wanting to learn more about our team, or you have found us by accident and still deciding who to choose for your treatment, your interest in our practice is much appreciated. Hopefully you will find our web site informative and helpful, as well as fun. If you have any comments or suggestions about our practice, please contact me directly. paul@paulgoughphysio.com
