Nigel Ghani, contract worker, originally from Stockton now living on the marina in Hartlepool - Tell us about your hobbies and interests and have you been injured participating in any of them?
Love to play squash and tennis, unfortunately I have been injured playing both of them, squash seems to be the one to take longer to recover from these days! - Why did you initally choose Paul Gough Physio Rooms for your treatment?
My friend who I work with who lives in Consett had previously had treatment from Paul at the Durham branch, he gave me a glowing recommendation that if I ever was suffering from an injury that Paul was the man to see in the North East! - When did you first become one of our patients and why? i.e. what injury
Off the top of my head, it was July 2008, I had been playing quite a lot of tennis at the time particularly as wimbledon was on, I remember being in agony on the couch watching the Nadal Vs Federer Final that year - I think I had my first Physio appointment on the Monday or Tuesday of the next week. - Tell us a little bit more about your injuries and how they happend...
Ive had back, knee and ankle problems. The ankle sprains and knee twists usually take a couple of weeks to settle down and were painful but with a bit of treatment both settled down – it’s the lower back pain that I dread happening again! - Describe to us the treatment that was given to you in our practice and our physios approach...
Whatever it was it hurt at the time! I remember paul doing lots of massage and sticking what seemed like his elbow into the painful area of my back – mega painful at the time but a lot of relief and very quickly. I was also twisted into a position with my leg hanging off the bed and pressure applied to release the movement at the base of my back. This type of treatment happened each time and I was given some exercises to help the strength in my back which I am still doing to this day. - What did you like most about our staff/team?
That’s easy, the Friendlyness of all of the staff. - How did you feel about your overall experience with Paul Gough Physio Rooms?
Apart from the unavoidable pain from the actual treatment, I felt part of a very friendly practice and would look forward to the chat with the staff and sometimes have a laugh with the other patients waiting. - If you could single out one part of your experience with us that pleasantly surprised you, what would it be?
That I was able to see Paul at 8 o’clock on a night – I didn’t expect physio’s to be accessible so late which was a big help with me not missing any more work! - Finally, are there any parts to our service you would like to see us improve or add?
Just incase it happens to me again, find a treatment for bad backs that doesn’t involve an elbow being shoved in my back!haha
