Paediatric physiotherapy: Kids@paul gough physio rooms

What is Paediatric Physiotherapy?

Paediatric physiotherapy is for children under 18 years of age with a range of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions. Our youngest patient is a boy of 3 years.

We are happy to assist in the recovery from injury of children who are active and sporty and suffer the occasional trauma. Likewise we are able to help the less active child who maybe suffering from injuries associated with posture and computer use whilst sitting at a desk. This is proving to be a very common injury, given the amount of time that children are spending on their computers on social network sites such as facebook and MySpace.

Poor posture presents obvious problems. If posture is good in the early years, future injuries can be prevented. We will aim to advise and reassure you as the parent about the nature of your child’s injury and the role which you can play to help their recovery and development

Our procedure for the treatment of Children (under 18)

  1. Up to date registration with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
  2. Up to date registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC)
  3. Child to be accompanied by an adult at all times during the entirety of the treatment session.
  4. Signed declaration of consent/authority to proceed with treatment to be obtained from the parent/guardian at the beginning of the initial assessment. One copy to be given to the parent/guardian and one copy retained with the clinical notes .
  5. No physiotherapy assessment or treatment will take place on parental consent if the child is competent to consent, but refuses to do so.

A Word From Paul

Welcome to February, do you think we avoid the snow this year or is set to fall this month? This month we start a new contract to look after the staff of housing authority Coast & Country in the Guisborough area! We've settled nicely in the new physio practice, if you receive treatment from us in the Hartlepool area we're now at 25 Raby Road, keep an eye on it as your driving past!
...Whether you are a current patient of ours wanting to learn more about our team, or you have found us by accident and still deciding who to choose for your treatment, your interest in our practice is much appreciated. Hopefully you will find our web site informative and helpful, as well as fun. If you have any comments or suggestions about our practice, please contact me directly. paul@paulgoughphysio.com
