Hartlepool grandmother receives physiotherapy for elbow pain

11 Jan

This month’s patient success story is about a Hartlepool grandmother with elbow pain, that is once again able to enjoy time playing with her family after receiving expert advice and physiotherapy treatment.

If you think you need physiotherapy for elbow pain, or if you’ve ever struggled with any kind of injury that has stopped you from enjoying time with your family,  please read on…

Clare Cronin (pictured above), 64, found looking after her 18-month energetic grandson was proving difficult while suffering from an elbow injury – but regular physiotherapy treatment at the Paul Gough Physio Rooms has eased her elbow pain.

Clare has been busy during the pandemic taking care of her young grandson with her daughter being an NHS worker.

Unable to get an appointment with her GP, Clare turned to the Paul Gough Physio Rooms for advice and physiotherapy treatment for her elbow pain. Here’s what Clare said about her injury…

“It’s been very hands-on and busy. He’s non-stop walking around and I’ve felt aches and pains in my elbow when I’ve been picking him up.

“I was in a lot of pain and finding it hard to look after such an energetic little boy!

“I didn’t want to keep taking pain killers to ease my pain, I needed some expert help.

“I had an appointment with a physical therapist called Jonny at the Paul Gough Physio Rooms and I got a clear injury diagnosis. I’ve been given a series of elbow exercises to help strengthen the muscles around my elbow and ease the pain, and I’m already feeling a big difference.

“I was receiving physio treatment for my elbow pain previously, but cancelled a booking as I thought my elbow problem had cleared up – I thought it was going to be OK, but the pain came back with a vengeance.

“I think people will put off having physiotherapy because they think they are OK after a session or two, but don’t be fooled and make sure you get the problem solved professionally.”

Does this sound like you, or someone you know?

If it does, we can’t emphasise the importance of seeking out the correct diagnosis and treatment.

We really do sympathise with the Government and the current situation, but with waiting lists on the NHS at record lengths and GP surgeries under increasing pressure, our advice is quite simple:

Don’t allow the pandemic to delay your physiotherapy treatment and let an injury that you think might just be a ‘trivial matter’ now, whether it be a big or small injury, turn into something more serious by not getting help.

It’s no exaggeration to say that what may seem like a trivial matter, like elbow pain that you think will go away by itself, can lead to a bigger problem.

If you’re reading this now and feel like you can relate, or if you want to get back to fitness and good health now lockdown measures are eased and to get yourself fit for the summer, we are here for you.
